Exeter Speech & Language Therapy
My name is Ceris Clark. I am an experienced speech and language therapist providing support for children and young people aged 0-18, with a broad range of speech, language and communication needs in Exeter and the surrounding areas.

Who I Can Help
I provide services for children and young people experiencing:
Problems with speaking clearly and using the right sounds in words
Stammering
Selective Mutism
Developmental Language Disorder
Problems understanding what is said, including questions and instructions
Problems using the right vocabulary, putting words into sentences and using the right grammar
Problems with early language development, including first words, play skills and pre-verbal skills (such as starting an interaction and sharing attention)
Problems with attention and listening
Differences in social communication
And a range of other difficulties

Learning to talk and communicate is an important life skill that allows children to learn, build relationships and express their thoughts and opinions.
I understand how worrying it can be when a child is having difficulties in this area.
I believe in the importance of providing timely specialist communication support, enabling children to reach their full potential.
The Process - What to Expect
Step 1: Making Contact
After you contact Exeter Speech & Language Therapy, we will arrange a free 20 minute initial telephone appointment. This is an opportunity to discuss your main concerns. We will consider whether speech and language therapy is right for you and your child, and how I can best help.
We'll agree which assessment approach will best meet your child's needs.
Step 2: Initial Assessment
Initial assessment normally lasts between 60-120 minutes and will take place at your home and/or child's educational setting.
I use a variety of tools, tailored to your child's needs, to assess their communication.
Following assessment, you will receive a report detailing the assessment findings with advice and recommended next steps, which may include therapy.
Step 3: Therapy
Evidence-based techniques will be combined with engaging activities that incorporate your child's interests, to help them develop their communication skills.
Therapy sessions can take place at your home or child's educational setting. Alternatively, I can offer sessions virtually via video call.
Sessions last for an hour (including discussions about progress, demonstrating activities to complete between sessions and clinical note writing etc).
Step 4: Review
Following a block of therapy, review sessions provide an opportunity to re-assess relevant areas of your child's communication and update therapy targets, ensuring that they remain focussed on your child's current needs.
